Where I work, I’m required to reset my password every 3 months. It can’t be the same as any password I’ve used in the past two years and, I just recently learned, that it can’t be longer than 12 characters.
I learned that because the system allowed me to update my password to one longer than 12 characters, but wouldn’t allow me to log in with it. There was no mention on the company’s site about it, just the usual “Must contain one uppercase, one lower case, and one numeral. I had to call IT about it, and the guy spoke to me like I was stupid for not knowing that it had to be 12 characters or less.
